Dental work has a real cost, and there's no benefit in pretending otherwise. What we can do is make sure you know the number before treatment starts, and that there's a way to handle the number that works for your life.
Every treatment plan at Fresh Smile Dental Care comes with a written, itemized estimate — what insurance will pay, what your portion will be, and what CareCredit can do if you need it. Nothing gets scheduled without that conversation first.
CareCredit
CareCredit is a healthcare credit line used by more than 250,000 providers nationwide. It works like a credit card, but it's dedicated to medical and dental care — which means the promotional terms are designed around treatment costs, not consumer purchases.
Short-term plans (6, 12, 18, 24 months) — interest-free if the balance is paid within the promotional period
Long-term plans (24–60 months) — fixed monthly payments at a reduced APR for larger cases like full-arch implants or full smile makeovers
Soft credit check to prequalify — doesn't affect your credit score to see if you're approved
Same-day approval in most cases — you can apply at the front desk or before your appointment
No prepayment penalty — if you can pay it off early, you save the interest
CareCredit is the most common financing patients use for crowns, root canals, implants, Invisalign, and cosmetic work. The front desk will walk you through the application if you want to apply at your visit, or you can apply ahead of time and arrive with the approval already in hand.
HSA and FSA accounts
Dental treatment is an eligible expense for both Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). You can use the funds directly at the practice the same way you'd use a debit card.
HSA — funds roll over year to year. Good for planning bigger treatments across calendar years.
FSA — use-it-or-lose-it by the end of your plan year. End of year is a smart time to schedule deferred work.
Bring your HSA or FSA card to your visit and the front desk will handle the rest.
What insurance and CareCredit look like together
Most patients combining insurance and CareCredit follow one of two patterns:
Insurance pays its share, CareCredit covers the rest. The most common case. PPO plans typically cover 50–80% of major work like crowns, root canals, and implants. Whatever's left over goes on a CareCredit plan that fits the month.
Treatment split across two calendar years. PPO plans have an annual maximum (often $1,500–$2,500). For larger plans, Dr. Yeo will sometimes recommend splitting treatment across December and January so two years of insurance benefits apply. He'll mention it when it applies.
Either way, the math is shown to you in writing before anything is scheduled. See the full list of insurance plans we accept →
What this looks like in practice
Example: single-tooth implant with a crown. Most PPO plans cover a portion of both the implant and the crown. After insurance, the remaining patient portion is often in the $1,500–$3,000 range. Most patients put this on a 12 or 18-month interest-free CareCredit plan — a fixed monthly payment that ends before the warranty period on the implant does.
Example: Invisalign for an adult patient. Most PPO plans contribute a one-time orthodontic benefit (typically $1,500–$2,500 lifetime). The remainder is commonly split across a 24-month CareCredit plan that lines up roughly with treatment length.
Example: a full smile makeover with veneers. Cosmetic work is rarely covered by insurance, so the full case typically goes on a long-term CareCredit plan with fixed monthly payments over 36–60 months.
Numbers vary case to case. Every estimate is written down before treatment starts.
